Peace in the Waiting
In the middle of a struggle, how many times do we feel as if we're all alone... That our family isn't there? That our friends left us? That God abandoned us?
Whatever the circumstance, whether big or small, we've all felt that way. It frustrates us. We want someone to take care of things and make it all better. We want someone to take our pain and confusion away. But it usually doesn't happen, does it?
Greg Long's song, In the Waiting, is a song from his family's experience during his father's brain tumor surgery. The lyrics show us Long's strong desire to feel God's presence:
I want a peace beyond my understanding
I want to feel it fall like rain
In the middle of my hurting
I want to feel Your arms
As they surround me
And let me know that it's okay
To be here in this place
Resting in the peace that only comes
In the waiting
In John 14.27, Jesus tells us, "I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid."
Whatever trial or burden you may be encountering right now, God will help you through it if you ask Him. Rest in the peace in knowing that God has not abandoned you, even if it feels like He has.
