Welcome to Moonlight!
Have you ever seen an incredibly beautiful full moon? Or, maybe you've witnessed a stunning moonrise or moonset that's orange or red, and the moon seems so close to the Earth that you could reach out and touch it.
The moon can be a spectacular sight. But, did you know that the moon emits no light of its own? The light that we consider "moonlight" is actually the sun's light reflecting off the moon. If it wasn't for the sun, the moon would just be a rock in the sky that helped maintain the tides. Not very exciting, huh?
We need to be like the moon... reflect the light of the Son, Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 3.18 it says, "And all of us have had that veil removed so that we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more."
Imagine holding a small mirror up to a light. In order to fully reflect that light, you need to stay facing the light and you need to keep everything else from coming between you and the light.
It's the same with us. In order to fully reflect the light from Jesus Christ, we need to stay facing and focused on Him. If we begin to turn away, we will no longer be reflecting Jesus Christ to those around us but whatever we turn toward... money, alcohol, gossip.
We also need to keep things from coming between us and God. If we allow much of our time to be spent working or running errands or doing recreational activities, then our time of prayer and worship and thanks to God will slip away.
